The training seminar on international road haulage was held on 12-16 December 2005 in Istanbul, Turkey. The event brought together officials and practitioners in charge of road freight transport in EU and MEDA countries.

The training seminar aimed to raise awareness on the requirements for improving the efficiency of the road haulage industry and to share experience and good practices on the means of facilitating the transit of goods by road.

The seminar provided an overview of actions, tools, and current knowledge for improving road freight transport and modernising the road haulage sector in the Euro-Mediterranean area.

Presentations were given by project experts, representatives from EU and MEDA countries and international organisations, as well as senior managers from the public or private sectors.

The seminar included case studies and group exercises to encourage the exchange of know-how on the facilitation of international road haulage and the steps needed on behalf of governments, customs authorities, shippers and freight forwarders, and haulage companies to improve the regulatory frameworks and management practices in road freight transport.
