Summary:The second National Counterpart Team Meeting (NCT 2) took place in Damascus, Syria, on the 29-31 March 2004. The event brought together 50 participants, including representatives from 11 MEDA countries, the European Commission, the Main Contract Infrastructure and Contract, as well as selected core experts and moderators.
The first objective of the NCT 2 meeting was to present and discuss the main findings of the draft Diagnostic Study in order to achieve a comprehensive understanding by the participants, and to include their comments for submitting a revised draft to the European Commission.
The second objective was to review the recommendations established by the core experts in order to define a set of potential priority actions to be incorporated into the subsequent Regional Transport Action Plan and implemented during the project.
For this purpose, the project team structured the conference into three sub-regional working groups using a systematic and highly participatory approach.
With the assistance of moderators these working groups discussed and revised the thematic modules of the first draft of the Diagnostic Study presented by the core experts.
As a result of these sessions, 44 potential priority actions were defined, and were further structured and discussed during the plenary session on Day 3. Photo Gallery:Download course material:Overview and Structure of the Meeting (2.08Mb) Ralf Kaltheier, Project Director, Main Contract
