Summary:The participants in the first International Forum and Exhibition on Transport organised by the Arab Expo Co. under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport met on 27-30 July 2005, in Damascus, Syria, in order to exchange views about the recent evolutions in the Arab transport sector and the prospects for developing the transport networks and systems in Syria and the Middle East.
The forum brought together representatives from various regional and international transport organisations and from many transport stakeholders in Syria and the Arab world. One specific aim of the event was to capitalise on Syria’s distinctive geographical location to gain further insight into proposed investment projects and take note of the requirements of the transport industry in terms of activating and promoting investments in the sector.
