National Coordinators - National Counterpart Teams

The project beneficiaries are closely involved in the project through the active participation of the National Coordinators (NCs) and National Counterpart Teams (NCTs).

National Coordinators (NC)

NCs are nominated by the governments of the 10 + 2 MEDA countries to oversee their country’s involvement in the project and provide background know-how on the transport sector.

The NCs act as the main point of contact between the project and the national administration in the MEDA countries.

The NCs:

  • are usually high-raking officials from the national ministries in charge of transport;
  • take part in the NCT meetings and in certain other events organised by the project.

National Counterpart Teams

The NCTs include officials and experts from national administrations and related bodies.

The composition of the NCTs depends on the topic and issues that are being addressed.

On April 2007, a new National Coordinator Ms Militsa Kastellani, Administrative Officer A at the Ministry of Communications & Works, has been nominated. 

 



NC of Egypt: Mr Abdallah Wahdan; Director of the Egypt National Institute of Transport 

On September 2007, a new National Coordinator Mr Abu Bakr Hefny, Councellor to the Minister of Transportation for Intl' Cooperation, has been nominated. 

 



NC of Israel: Mr Avi Yerushalmi; Director of Transport Policy

 

 

 



NC of Jordan: Ms Arwa Al Hyari; Minister Advisor (EU relations)

 

 

 



NC of Lebanon: Mr Abdel Hafiz El-Kaissi; Director General of Land & Maritime Transport

 

 

 




NC of Malta: Mr Martin Spiteri; Director Policy Development

 

 

 



NC of Morocco: Mr Hamid Zhar; Director of Transport Studies, Planning and Co-ordination

 

  




NC of Palestinian Authority: Mr Ali Shaath; Deputy Minister & Chairman of Seaports Authority

 

 

 


NC of Syria: Mr Moussa Al-Shaar; Deputy Minister of Transport
(Deputy National Coordinator: Ms Suha Nassar; Director of Arab, International Cooperation)

On September 2007, a new National Coordinator Mr. Rajeh Sarea, Vice Minister for Land Transport, and a new Deputy NC Ms. Rasha Mohammad, International Cooperation Director, have been nominated. 


NC of Tunisia: Mr Kamel Ben Miled; Directeur des Relations Extérieures
