Summary:

The 4th Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Forum, with the theme, "Mediterranean Multimodal: links for an approach toward 2010", was held between 23rd – 24th  May 2006, within the framework of the SIL 2006 exhibition in Barcelona. This Forum has become an annual international platform for specialists and business professionals in the sector to discuss the new policies of the logistics and transport sector in the Pan-Euro Mediterranean zone.

This  4th edition  aimed to investigate the importance of creating a multimodal transport system within the context of Euro-Mediterranean co-operation. The 2 day event brought together representatives from 2.000 companies of 20 countries, and International Organisations playing a key role in the design of global policies for the logistics and transport sector. The guest country attending this year’s edition was Morocco.

Mr Ralf-Michael Kaltheier, Team Leader of the EuroMed Transport Project, was a guest speaker at the 1st Plenary Session, "Multimodal in the Mediterranean, Platform for competitiveness". His in-depth presentation outlined the main results achieved so far as well as the next steps to be taken by the EuroMed Transport Project. Mr Katheier presence at the SIL 2006 helped increase dialogue between the Project and important private sector operators.
