500 milliards de dinars pour le transport
Le ministre des Transports, Mohamed Meghlaoui, a effectué mardi après-midi une courte visite d’inspection et de travail dans la wilaya de Sidi Bel-Abbès, venant de Mascara. Il a été accueilli au siège de la wilaya par M. El-Hadj El-Mokhtar Bentabet et les autorités locales, avant de se rendre directement à l’atelier de maintenance de la SNTF.

European Commission raises doubts about Cyprus Airways restructuring plan
The Commission has today decided to open a formal investigation procedure into a restructuring plan proposed in November 2005 by the Republic of Cyprus to restore the viability of the ailing State-owned flag-carrier. The Commission has doubts that the current plan is in accordance with the Community framework for rescue and restructuring of firms in difficulty.

IAA Announces Commitment to Aviation Safety Management
In accordance with new directives from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) announced its commitment to aviation safety management. The event took place on October 17, 2006 in Kfar Hamaccabiah, at a managers' conference on “Aviation Safety Management at the IAA” – a one-day conference on the subject of introducing FAD + SMS into the organization.

Third quarter revenues for Royal Jordanian Cargo were up 9% compared to third quarter of 2005; passenger flight cargo revenues grew 6% while the freighters showed a robust 12% growth.

Royal Jordanian and SITA sign Information Technology agreement
Royal Jordanian signed a USD 3.2 million contract with SITA, under which SITA will provide the airline with Horizon, a complete IT Business solution. This will thus enable interoperability with all the other airlines in the one world alliance, which Royal Jordanian was invited to join in October 2005.

Le transport maritime totalement libéralisé d’ici juillet 2007
La libéralisation totale de l’offre de transport maritime est prévue d’ici fin juillet 2007. Pour baliser le terrain à ce processus, au demeurant irréversible, les pouvoirs publics ont, dernièrement, peaufiné une étude stratégique afin de recadrer la politique de développement sectoriel avec les impératifs plus généraux du Maroc. Logique comme démarche surtout si l’on sait que les échanges extérieurs nationaux dépendent du transport maritime à hauteur de 95%.

190 millions de DH pour sécuriser le port
Une forte délégation ministérielle, conduite par le ministre de l'Intérieur, Chakib Benmoussa, accompagné de Karim Ghellab, ministre de l'Equipement et du Transport, Hamidou Laânigri, général, directeur général de la DGSN, Mohamed Kabbaj, wali du Grand Casablanca, et bien d'autres personnalités civiles et militaires, a fait le déplacement au port de Casablanca pour procéder à la mise en service du système à badge au port de la métropole.

EasyJet, l'un des deux leaders européens du low cost, ouvre le bal pour l'Open Sky entre l'UE et le Maroc, dont l'entrée en vigueur est prévue dans la deuxième moitié de 2006. Accords dans le domaine du transport et d'études sismiques entre la Tunisie et la principauté de Monaco
Deux accords de coopération ont été signés, jeudi, a Tunis, entre la Tunisie et la principauté de Monaco.
Le premier vise à promouvoir les relations commerciales entre les deux pays et à faciliter le transport des personnes et des marchandises. Il réglemente les conditions et procédures des services de transport réguliers et non réguliers.

Tunisie: Renforcement du système de sécurité dans les ports
Des camions scanners pour voitures ont été achetés récemment, et installés au port de la Goulette.
Ils visent à renforcer la sécurité dans les ports tunisiens. Ces camions sont dotés des technologies de pointe qui ont fait preuve de leur efficacité dans le contrôle et la garantie de la fluidité de la circulation des véhicules dans le port.

Après la réunion des ministres du Transport du Maghreb qui vient d’avoir lieu à Casablanca au Maroc , au cours de laquelle le directeur général de l'Office national des aéroports (ONDA) du Royaume chérifien, Abdelhanine Benallou, a déclaré que "nous avons un besoin pressant d'une structure maghrébine unifiée au niveau des aéroports surtout dans cette conjoncture marquée par la préparation à la certification des aéroports qui entrera en vigueur en 2007’’.

The Commission has adopted today a financing decision for a total of €38.1 million to encourage the economic development of the Turkish Cypriot community. Airbus A380 Wake Vortex Study – Results
This study was initiated in June 2003 with the objective of conducting investigations and gathering data to support recommendations, which would be made to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), regarding safe wake vortex separation criteria for aircraft following an A380 for various conditions of flight.

Les perspectives du développement du réseau de transport ferroviaire en Roumanie pour les cinq prochaines années
L’actuelle structure ferroviaire n’est pas conforme aux normes européennes, ce qui a des effets directs sur le niveau assez bas de transport. Commission takes stock of the GALILEO Programme
The European Commission today adopted a communication taking stock of the GALILEO satellite radionavigation programme. The communication outlines the key components of this ambitious European project and includes an updated timetable for its implementation. It will be forwarded to the European Parliament, the Council, the Economic and Social Council and the Committee of the Regions.

Commission and ESPO set to promote investments in ports
The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) held its 3rd Annual Conference in Stockholm under the theme “A European policy for seaports – suggestions on the way forward”. The theme was chosen following the rejection of the port services’ Directive in January this year. The conference was hosted by the Ports of Sweden Association, which celebrates its 100th anniversary, and the Port of Stockholm.

European Ports Policy: European Commission initiates global reflection and consultation process
The European Commission will participate in the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) Conference in Stockholm entitled “A European Policy for Seaports – Suggestions on the way forward” on 1 and 2 June. The Commission wants a global reflection and a wide consultation process in order to redefine the foundations of the future European ports policy. Such a policy should encompass the completion of the internal market in the sector, encourage transparent and non-discriminatory investment practices and enhance the role of ports in the transport chain.
