Summary:

The eighth meeting of the Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum was held in Brussels on 29-30 May 2007, attended by high level transport officials.

Following the welcome address and introductory remarks, the European Commission gave an update on the activities of the High-Level Group, covering the extension of the major trans-European transport axes to the neighbouring countries and regions.

The EuroMed Transport Project presented the final draft version of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional Transport Action Plan (RTAP) for the  Mediterranean region for the period 2007-2013.

A session was devoted to discussing this updated version of the RTAP with the National Coordinators to reach an agreement on the amendments needed for completing the RTAP.

Following the discussion of the RTAP, the Infrastructure Project presented the results of the Pre-Feasibility Studies.

Afterwards, the European Commission presented  the mandate of the Working Group on Infrastructure and Regulatory Reform.

During the second day, the EuroMed Transport Project gave a brief presentation on the ''Donor's workshops and PPP micro study''. This was followed by presentations on the various other related contracts and projects: Euromed Aviation Project, GNSS Project, Safemed Project and Motorways of the Sea Contract (MOS)

Following the meeting, further amendments to the RTAP were submitted by the representatives of the MEDA Partner Countries and the EU Member States which will be integrated in the new version of the RTAP.
