Training Seminars and Courses
| The importance of building local staff's capacity in each country engaged in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of infrastructure investment, in specific infrastructure management matters and on issues relating to transport policy and institutional reforms has been a key part of the EuroMed Transport project . |
A training programme has thus been designed to complement and support the parallel work within the study to identify infrastructure and institutional needs and prepare feasibility studies.
The main steps in the training programme include: - Evaluating the needs in support of institutional and market reforms, in promoting the harmonisation of operational norms and regulations and in encouraging the coordination of transport policies;
- identifying, in dialogue with the Mediterranean partner administrations, the training needs of officials in the preparation of infrastructure- investment projects;
- assessing the training needs and preparing a training programme aimed at improving the capacities for the management and maintenance of key infrastructure facilities;
- preparing and implementing a training programme to meet the needs identified and using a blend of on-the-job training, short courses, workshops and by overseas study-tours for selected staff;
- organising training events and ensuring logistics (event venue, facilities and equipment, travel and accommodation), and;
- ensuring follow-up activities and disseminating training materials after the seminars.
The training courses generally span three to five days depending on the topic, and two participants from each of the Mediterranean Countries are invited to attend. The content is delivered by a team of two to three lecturers per seminar, to ensure that the topic is covered appropriately.
Each course will be developed to provide:
