Additional Studies

Additional studies or ‘micro-studies’ are carried out as part of the preliminary short-term activities identified under the RTAP. Their aim is to fill any gaps in current knowledge and provide additional analysis and information.

Infrastructure Pre-Feasibility Studies

Transport infrastructure investment projects require economic, financial and environmental appraisal to ensure they satisfy objectives and to justify investment of scarce financial resources.

A pre-feasibility study is an initial step which defines the scope of the project and estimates likely demand and costs. The study allows a decision to be made as to whether a more detailed and costly Feasibilty Study is worthwhile.

Pre-feasibility studies completed - Final reports available:

PFS 01 - Upgrading of the Rail Link to Damietta Port - Rev 1 (1.4MB)

PFS 02 - Container Terminal at Mohammedia Port (1.6MB)

PFS 03 - Electrification of Kayseri (Bogazkopru) - Ulukisla - Yenice - Mersin Adana - Toprakkale Railway (1.6MB)

PFS 04 - Amman Air Cargo Hub (2.7MB)

PFS 05 - Road Upgrading from Aleppo to Al Yarubia on Iraq Border (5.3MB)

PFS 07 - New coastal international railway link, Annaba – Tabarka (2.4MB)

PFS 08 - Traffic Study of Haifa - Best She'an, with future possible link up to Iraq via Jordan (1.4MB)

PFS 09 - Proposed new border crossing Lebanon - Syria (Arida) (3.3MB)

Pre-feasibility studies - Draft final report currently under review, will be available shortly:

PFS 06 - Upgrading of Autoroute - Casablanca-Rabat

Other pre-feasibility studies were considered but not carried out. Study of a deep water port at Enfida was no longer required. Development of Tartous port was overtaken by a study by the EIB. Reconstruction of border crossings for the Palestinian Territories was not carried out because locations could not be agreed.
